Zulu Alpha Kilo
Canada
Zak Mroueh is chief creative officer and founder of Zulu Alpha Kilo, one of Canada’s most celebrated creative agencies. In 2021 Zak fired himself as CEO to focus on creative. It turned out to be a wise decision, as 2021 was one of Zulu’s most creatively celebrated years yet. Honours included Creativepool’s International Agency of the Year, Kinsale Shark’s Agency of the Year, The Drum UK‘s Grand Prix for Digital Advertising, Epica’s Independent Agency of the Year, and three Golds at AdAge’s Small Agency of the Year, the most Golds of any agency. Forbes and Fast Company called Zulu’s work “game-changing” and among the “most innovative.” Zak launched the 20Doors Scholarship Fund, in which he’s covering the college tuition for four BIPOC candidates annually for the next five years at a cost of $250,000. He was also one of the first leaders in Canada to sign the Call for Equity letter issued by this country’s POCAM (People of Colour in Advertising & Marketing). The agency’s “Awards Gone Wild” video, which pokes fun at the industry’s obsession with awards, inspired Forbes to call Zulu “the SNL of agencies.” https://www.forbes.com/sites/avidan/2021/11/30/zulo-alpha-kilo-is-the-snl-of-agencies/?sh=12cac9892d01
